Carol A. Hardy, Methamphetamine Conspiracy, Missouri 2018

A massive methamphetamine ring has been dismantled in Springfield, Missouri, with a local woman taking the fall for her role in the conspiracy.

Carol A. Hardy, also known as Carol A. Johnson, 49, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Bough to 20 years in federal prison without parole in federal court today.

According to court documents, Hardy participated in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine from March 30 to October 18, 2017. Hardy was an upper-level distributor in a drug trafficking organization that distributed at least 4.5 kilograms of pure methamphetamine in the Springfield area.

The methamphetamine was purchased from Kansas City, Missouri, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and transported by vehicle to the Springfield area.

Law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Hardy’s residence and found 1.766 kilograms of methamphetamine in a safe on the floor of a bedroom closet. Officers also found a notebook containing a drug ledger inside a purse on top of the bed.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nhan D. Nguyen. It was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Springfield, Missouri, Police Department.

Hardy pleaded guilty to participating in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine on July 17, 2018.

Her prison sentence brings an end to a lengthy investigation into a major methamphetamine trafficking operation in the Springfield area.
