Chance Adrian Griffin, Domestic Assault by Strangulation, Oklahoma 2016

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA - In a disturbing case of domestic violence, Chance Adrian Griffin, a 21-year-old resident of Allen, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to domestic assault by strangulation.

The crime, which occurred on or about January 20, 2016, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Indian Country, involved Griffin assaulting an intimate partner by strangulation. This egregious act is punishable by not more than 10 years imprisonment, up to a $250,000.00 fine, or both, according to Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1153, 1151 and 113(a)(8).

The charge is the result of a thorough investigation by the Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Their diligent work has brought Griffin to justice and ensured that he will face the consequences of his actions.

Griffin will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending sentencing. The Honorable Steven P. Shreder, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, will preside over the upcoming sentencing hearing. A presentence investigation report must be completed before sentencing can take place.
