Beatrice Man Sentenced to 17 Years in Prison for Methamphetamine Conspiracy

A 35-year-old man from Beatrice, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for his role in a methamphetamine conspiracy in the Gage County area. Charles Burr, 35, was sentenced on September 14, 2020, in Omaha, Nebraska, by Senior United States District Judge Laurie Smith Camp.

According to the investigation, Burr was responsible for more than 24 pounds of methamphetamine being distributed in the area from November 2016 through September 2017. Burr pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

The investigation was a collaborative effort between the United States Marshals Service, Nebraska State Patrol, Gage County Sheriff’s Department, Beatrice Police Department, and Lincoln Police Department.

Burr will serve a 10-year term of supervised release after his release from prison. There is no parole in the federal system.

Two others involved in the conspiracy, Ashley Bartels and Candace Burr, were previously sentenced to 7 years and 5 years and 9 months in prison, respectively.

The sentencing of Charles Burr is a significant blow to those involved in the methamphetamine trade in the Gage County area. The investigation and subsequent sentencing demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combating drug trafficking and protecting the community.
