Falmouth Man Sentenced for Gun Crimes
A Pendleton County man has been sentenced to 37 months in prison for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
According to reports, Charles E. Luke, 36, of Falmouth, was stopped by police on July 27, 2019 in Pendleton County. When the officers approached his vehicle, he placed a firearm in the glovebox.
Luke admitted that he knew he was a convicted felon and was not permitted to possess a firearm.
Luke, who had three prior felony convictions, pleaded guilty in November 2019.
Under federal law, Luke must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence. Upon his release, Luke will be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for three years.
The investigation was conducted by ATF and KSP, and the United States was represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Wade Napier.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a nationwide crime reduction strategy aimed at decreasing violent crime in communities. It involves a comprehensive approach to public safety, including investigating and prosecuting crimes, along with prevention and reentry efforts.
The case is also part of Project Guardian, the Department's signature initiative to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws.
