Indianapolis, IN - A federal grand jury indicted Charles House, 37, of Anderson, Ind., and four others on charges of operating a drug trafficking organization in Anderson and Indianapolis.

The indictment, which was announced by U.S. Attorney Josh J. Minkler, charges House and his co-conspirators with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and marijuana, distribution of methamphetamine and marijuana, and unlawful use of a communication facility.

The investigation into House's organization began in October 2018, when the Madison County Drug Task Force initiated an investigation into his activities. According to court documents, House traveled to California to purchase narcotics and then mailed them to multiple addresses in Anderson, where they were redistributed by his co-conspirators.

The defendants allegedly used cellular phones and code words to conceal their activities. House and his co-conspirators, including Sean Brown, 25, Tommy Compton, 39, Marcus Hayes-Patterson, 34, and Gregory Hendricks, 34, all face serious prison time if convicted. House and Brown face up to life in prison, while Hendricks faces up to 40 years imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Postal Inspection Service, Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation, Anderson Police Department, Madison County Drug Task Force, and Muncie Police Department.

According to Assistant United States Attorney Lindsay E. Karwoski, who is prosecuting the case, the indictment sends a strong message that there is zero tolerance for those who bring dangerous drugs into our communities.

House and his co-conspirators are currently in custody, pending trial. If convicted, they will be sentenced to prison time. The investigation and prosecution of this case are part of the U.S. Attorney's Office's ongoing effort to identify and remove violent drug traffickers from our neighborhoods.
