Charles P. Hendricks, Drug Conspiracy, Money Laundering, Oklahoma 2019
Charles Hendricks Brings in Big Bucks, Bigger Trouble
Murfreesboro, TN resident Takila Shauntel Carpenter, 34, is charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, while Oklahoma native Charles P. Hendricks, 31, also known as 'Tuffy,' faces drug conspiracy and money laundering charges.
The investigation, led by the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office and Homeland Security Investigations, uncovered a massive methamphetamine ring operating in Eastern Oklahoma. Carpenter is accused of possessing 500 grams or more of the substance on September 19, 2019.
Hendricks' charges stem from a long-running conspiracy dating back to April 2017. The indictment alleges he knowingly and intentionally combined with others to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance. He also faces money laundering charges for depositing large sums of cash into his Oklahoma Department of Corrections Offender Account.
The indictment highlights the brazen nature of Hendricks' crimes, with the defendant allegedly attempting to conceal the nature of the transactions. The charges carry a punishment of not less than 10 years and not more than life imprisonment, a fine up to $10,000,000, or both.
Carpenter's charges, also carrying a potential life sentence, were brought in connection with a single instance of methamphetamine possession. The investigation into both suspects remains ongoing, with Assistant United States Attorney Ryan Conway leading the charge.
Hendricks, a/k/a 'Tuffy,' faces serious time for his alleged crimes, with up to 20 years imprisonment and a fine possible. The case serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of methamphetamine on our communities and the importance of continued efforts to combat the scourge.
