Muskogee Man Pleads Guilty to Firearm Possession
CHARLES RAY BENEFIELD, age 32, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to FELON IN POSSESSION OF FIREARM, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(2).
The crime dates back to December 30, 2015, when BENEFIELD allegedly possessed a firearm despite being a convicted felon.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation's Violent Crime Task Force led the investigation, which ultimately resulted in BENEFIELD's indictment in March 2016.
The Honorable Kimberly E. West, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted BENEFIELD's guilty plea and ordered the completion of a presentence report.
Sentencing will be scheduled following its completion, and BENEFIELD will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.
