Charles T. McRoberts, 50, Sentenced for Conspiracy to Possess Fentanyl with Intent to Distribute

ST. LOUIS, Missouri - In a shocking case of fentanyl trafficking, Charles T. McRoberts, a 50-year-old Wentzville resident, was recently sentenced to 120 months in prison. McRoberts was found guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

The arrest was made on July 12, 2019, after investigators discovered a suspicious package addressed to a person in St. Louis sent from Las Vegas, Nevada. The package was inspected at the United Parcel Service Shipment Sorting Center, where authorities found a fake company listed as the sender.

Using a K-9 to positively identify the presence of illegal narcotics, investigators obtained a warrant to open the package and found clothing, a light bulb, and vacuum-sealed bags containing suspected heroin/fentanyl.

A decoy package was created by investigators, and a search warrant was obtained for the residence where the package was addressed. On July 12, 2019, a UPS employee attempted delivery of the decoy package, and McRoberts was seen accepting it. He was later taken into custody.

Co-defendant Gernell Armour is awaiting trial and is presumed innocent of the charges. The United States Drug Enforcement Administration and the St. Louis Metro Police Department investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Nauman Wadalawala handled the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
