Christine Kay Woods, Methamphetamine Distribution, West Virginia 2019

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA – Christine Kay Woods, a 58-year-old woman from Elkins, West Virginia, has been dealt a harsh sentence for her role in distributing methamphetamine in the state.

On January 2019, Woods pled guilty to one count of "Conspiracy to Distribute More than 5 Grams of Methamphetamine." Her guilty plea marked the beginning of the end for Woods, who admitted to distributing more than five grams of methamphetamine in Randolph County from the fall of 2016 to July 2018.

The investigation into Woods' activities was a collaborative effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Mountain Region Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative; and the Elkins Police Department.

The investigation was funded by the federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Program (OCDETF), which provides critical federal funding and coordination to help federal and state agencies identify, investigate, and prosecute major interstate and international drug trafficking organizations and other criminal enterprises.

U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided over Woods' sentencing hearing, where she was handed a 46-month prison sentence.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, bringing Woods to justice for her crimes.

Woods' case serves as a reminder of the importance of collaborative law enforcement efforts in combating the sale and distribution of illicit substances.
