Counterfeit Currency Manufacturing Ring Busted in Flagler County

A 36-year-old Flagler County man has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for his role in manufacturing counterfeit Federal Reserve notes. Christopher Brent Heath, a 29-time convicted felon, pleaded guilty to the charges on February 14, 2019.

According to court documents, Heath and his co-defendant, Christine Marie Beaulieu, were involved in passing counterfeit Federal Reserve notes in Flagler and Volusia Counties. In May 2018, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the United States Secret Service – Jacksonville Field Office, executed a search warrant at Beaulieu’s residence in Bunnell.

Inside the residence, law enforcement located computer media used to manufacture counterfeit bills and chemicals used for bleaching genuine money in furtherance of the counterfeiting process. Over $11,000 in counterfeit notes were recovered from the residence, with several thousand more attributed to Heath and Beaulieu.

The case was investigated by the United States Secret Service - Jacksonville Field Office, the Ormond Beach Police Department, and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Kevin C. Frein prosecuted the case.

Heath was sentenced to six years in federal prison, with the court ordering him to pay restitution to the victims he had defrauded and to forfeit computer media used in the crime. Co-defendant Christine Marie Beaulieu was previously sentenced to seven months in federal prison for her role in passing the counterfeit notes.

Heath’s extensive felony record and involvement in the counterfeiting operation demonstrate the severity of his crimes. The sentence handed down by U.S. District Judge Brian J. Davis reflects the gravity of the offense and the need for accountability.
