Christopher Cook, Fentanyl Trafficking, New York 2023
Buffalo Man Sentenced in Fentanyl Trafficking Ring
Buffalo, NY - In a major blow to the city's narcotics trade, 30-year-old Christopher Cook was sentenced to 30 months in prison for his role in a fentanyl trafficking ring. Cook, a Buffalo resident, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and is the first defendant to be sentenced in the case.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeremiah E. Lenihan, law enforcement began an investigation into Cook's activities in October 2019. Over the course of the investigation, agents made 40 controlled purchases of fentanyl, heroin, butyryl fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl, and furanyl fentanyl from Cook and his co-defendants, Mark Greaman, Damone McNamee, Sr., and Brian Ray.
The investigation, led by the New York State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration, uncovered a significant fentanyl trafficking operation in the area of Broadway Avenue and Strauss Street in Buffalo. Cook's sentencing marks a significant milestone in the case, which is still ongoing for his co-defendants.
Cook's 30-month sentence is a direct result of his involvement in the fentanyl trafficking ring. The investigation and subsequent sentencing demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to take down narcotics trafficking operations and bring those responsible to justice.
The sentencing of Christopher Cook serves as a warning to those involved in narcotics trafficking that they will be held accountable for their actions. The case also highlights the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies in taking down complex narcotics operations.
