Christopher Lee Collins, Child Pornography Offenses, Iowa 2019
A Davenport man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his involvement in child pornography offenses.
According to a recent investigation, Christopher Lee Collins, 35, of Davenport, Iowa, was found to have received and possessed obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children. On December 4, 2019, United States District Court Chief Judge John A. Jarvey handed down the sentence, which includes 240 months in prison.
Collins was also ordered to serve ten years of supervised release to follow his prison term, pay $200 to the Crime Victims' Fund, and comply with the sex offender registry requirements upon release.
The investigation, which began in 2017, discovered that Collins was in violation of his supervised release for a prior possession of child pornography conviction. A laptop used by Collins was found to contain 26 images of child pornography, downloaded by Collins from August 16, 2017 to August 26, 2017. Further review of the computer revealed 28 images of anime depicting child pornography.
Prior to this conduct, Collins pleaded guilty in 2008 to possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 78 months imprisonment and ten years of supervised release on February 26, 2009. Collins was found in violation of his supervised release due to committing the above offense. On December 4, 2019, he was sentenced to five years imprisonment for that violation.
The matter was investigated by the Davenport Police Department and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa prosecuted the case.
