A Jacksonville man has been charged in federal court with receiving child pornography over the Internet.
According to the indictment, on or about December 14, 2014, Christopher Shawn Warnock (43, Jacksonville) knowingly received a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct over the Internet.
If convicted, Warnock faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years, up to 20 years, in federal prison and a potential life term of supervision.
Warnock was arrested on December 17, 2014, at his Jacksonville residence. He was arraigned today and ordered detained pending further proceedings.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
This case is another example of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the U.S. government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
