Denver Man Sentenced to 82 Months in Federal Prison for Possession of Child Pornography

Clifford Eric Perian, 53, of Denver, Colorado, was sentenced to 82 months (over 6 years) in federal prison for possession of child pornography, announced the United States Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

The defendant was first charged by Criminal Complaint on May 24, 2013, and was then indicted by a federal grand jury in Denver on June 18, 2013. He pled guilty before Senior Judge Lewis T. Babcock on September 17, 2013, and was sentenced on December 10, 2013.

According to court documents, Perian was determined to have purchased several child pornography films on multiple occasions. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) investigated numerous CyberTipLine reports relating to emails and online postings by an individual using three different email addresses going back as far as November 11, 2007.

On May 23, 2013, Postal Inspectors executed a search warrant at the residence of Perian in Denver, where they found a 'torture table' with which to tie down and immobilize others, as well as DVD’s containing child pornography or child erotica, and computers.

Perian was also accused of ordering videos online and receiving them in the U.S. Mail, as well as receiving images of young males under the age of 18 engaged in sexual activity with male adults through internet chat rooms and via email.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and Perian was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Valeria Spencer as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

This case serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting our children from predators like Perian, who was focused on the physical torture of young children. His prison sentence clearly will protect our children from this predator.
