Clint Gentile, Methamphetamine and Heroin Possession, West Virginia 2020

Published September 24, 2019

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - On July 26, 2019, a vehicle was pulled over for various traffic violations on I-64 in Cabell County, West Virginia. Inside the vehicle, authorities found 550 grams of methamphetamine and 11 grams of black tar heroin.

Clint Gentile, 39, of Apache Junction, Arizona, has admitted to possessing the illicit substances with the intent to distribute them. Gentile, who was traveling from Arizona, is accused of bringing the drugs to West Virginia to peddle them.

According to United States Attorney Mike Stuart, Gentile's actions are a threat to the community. “550 grams of meth and 11 grams of black tar heroin,” Stuart said. “Gentile was coming from Arizona, but I don’t care where drug dealers are bringing drugs from – we don’t want out-of-state drug dealers peddling their poisons here.”

Gentile faces up to twenty years in prison when he is sentenced on January 6, 2020. The Violent Crime and Drug Task Force West conducted the investigation, and United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie S. Taylor is handling the prosecution.

Gentile's case is a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in West Virginia. As law enforcement continues to crack down on illicit activity, those involved in the trade face severe consequences.

In this case, Gentile's actions have caught up with him, and he now faces the possibility of spending twenty years behind bars. It serves as a warning to others who might consider engaging in similar activities.

The people of West Virginia deserve to live in a safe and drug-free community, and it’s up to law enforcement to ensure that those who break the law are held accountable.

Gentile's sentencing is scheduled for January 6, 2020, and it will be a significant moment in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking in West Virginia.
