Child Exploitation Crimes Rock Fairbanks Community

A Fairbanks man has been indicted on charges of child exploitation crimes, leaving many in the community shaken. According to court documents, Clint Michael Landry, 57, allegedly attempted to coerce a minor into engaging in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of that conduct between May 18, 2014, and May 19, 2014.

The case was the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which has been working tirelessly to bring those responsible for child exploitation crimes to justice. Assistant United States Attorney Kyle Reardon is prosecuting the case.

If convicted of attempted production of child pornography, Landry faces a maximum statutory penalty of not less than 15 and up to 30 years imprisonment. If convicted of attempted coercion and enticement, Landry faces a maximum statutory penalty of not less than 10 years and up to life. Both counts carry fines of up to $250,000, as well as the possibility of a lifetime period of supervised release following any sentence of imprisonment.

The charges against Landry are only allegations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. This prosecution is part of the ongoing Project Safe Childhood initiative, which aims to increase federal prosecutions of sexual predators of children and reduce the number of Internet crimes against children.

Project Safe Childhood is a collaborative effort between the United States Attorney's Office and state and local agencies to increase law enforcement presence on the Internet and educate the public about safe Internet use. The initiative has been instrumental in reducing the number of children who fall prey to online sexual predators.

Clint Michael Landry, 57, of Fairbanks, Alaska, has been charged with attempted production of child pornography and attempted coercion and enticement of a minor. The crimes allegedly occurred between May 18, 2014, and May 19, 2014. Landry faces up to 30 years in prison and fines of $250,000 if convicted.
