Johnstown Man Pleads Guilty to Cocaine Conspiracy Charge

A Johnstown man has pleaded guilty to a serious crime after attempting to possess a large quantity of cocaine. Clinton Dudley, age 36, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to Count One of the Indictment before Senior United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson on August 11, 2021.

According to the court, Dudley knowingly, intentionally, and unlawfully attempted to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. The exact amount of cocaine found was 622 grams, contained in a United States Postal Service parcel.

The attempted possession of such a large quantity of cocaine is a serious offense, and Dudley now faces severe consequences. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history of the defendant.

The law provides for a total maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, a fine of $5,000,000, or both. Dudley's sentencing is scheduled for March 27, 2024.

Assistant United States Attorney Arnold P. Bernard, Jr. is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The United States Postal Inspection Service and FBI Safe Streets Task Force conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Dudley.

As a result of his guilty plea, Dudley's future is now uncertain. He will be sentenced in March 2024 and could face up to 40 years in prison. The fine he could be held accountable for is a staggering $5,000,000.
