Published November 18, 2014

A shocking case of child exploitation hit the headlines yesterday as Clyde Craig, 56, of San Ramon, California, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the distribution of child pornography.

The case unfolded in July 2012 when a federal grand jury indicted Craig on charges of distributing over the Internet images and videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct with another person.

Craig pleaded guilty to the charges on January 7, 2013, in a plea agreement that admitted to distributing the illicit content over the Internet.

The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Saundra Brown Armstrong following a guilty plea on Count One of the Indictment in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252(a)(2).

Judge Armstrong also sentenced the defendant to a ten-year period of supervised release and ordered him to register as a sex offender and to participate in a sex offender treatment program.

The prosecution is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the severity of child pornography crimes and the need for continued vigilance in protecting our children from exploitation.

In related news, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has stated that child pornography is a growing concern, with cases increasing in recent years.
