Colby Dunn, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Iowa 2019

Council Bluffs, Iowa - In a major blow to the methamphetamine trade in Western Iowa, two Omaha residents have been sentenced to prison for their roles in a conspiracy to distribute the highly addictive substance.

Colby Dunn, 29, was sentenced to 100 months in prison, while Laura Rauch Anderson, 36, received a 60-month sentence for their involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking ring that operated in the Omaha, Nebraska area and transported the substance to various locations in Nebraska and Western Iowa.

According to the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa, the investigation, led by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Safe Streets Task Force, revealed that methamphetamine was brought into the Omaha area from Mexico and then transported to various locations in Nebraska and Western Iowa for distribution.

The sentencing of Dunn and Anderson brings the total number of individuals sentenced in connection with this investigation to eight. Previously sentenced include Bernave Navarrete to 20 years, Joseph Brown to 10 years, Chris Rouse to 20 years, Jackie Thielen to 10 years, Brandy Kumpula to 8 years, Chase Richard to 15 years, Jessica Snavely to 10 years, and William LaBenz to 5 years.

Two individuals, Omar Martinez and Manda May Rowell, are currently pending sentencing in connection with the conspiracy.

The investigation was a collaborative effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Safe Streets Task Force, the Omaha Police Department, the Southwest Iowa Narcotics Task Force, the Council Bluffs Police Department, the Harlan, Iowa Police Department, the Shelby County Sheriff's Department, and the Lincoln, Nebraska Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
