Crime Shocks Community

A 42-year-old Lame Deer man has been sentenced to 50 months in prison for attempting to sexually abuse a minor, leaving the community reeling in shock.

Coolidge Allen Killsontop, 42, pleaded guilty on October 19, 2020, to attempted sexual abuse of a minor and abusive sexual contact as charged in an indictment.

The abuse occurred in 2018 or 2019 in Lame Deer, on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation, where Killsontop allegedly groped a 12- to 16-year-old victim, identified as Jane Doe, and attempted to sexually abuse her again after she had fallen asleep.

The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bryan Dake.

Killsontop was detained during the case and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Susan P. Watters.

The government alleged in court documents that Killsontop's actions were a serious breach of trust and a threat to the safety of the community, particularly vulnerable children.

The sentence is a significant blow to Killsontop, who will now spend the next 4 years behind bars, followed by 5 years of supervised release.
