Cortez Young, Armed Business Robberies, Tennessee 2018

A Memphis man has been sentenced to 52 years in federal prison for committing nine armed business robberies across Memphis.

Cortez Young, 24, was sentenced on Monday for the string of robberies that occurred between October 2017 and January 2018.

According to information presented in court, Young and his accomplices robbed several businesses, including a Sonic Drive-In, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and Circle K.

The robberies occurred at the following locations:

Young was identified as the suspect in several of the robberies through surveillance video and eyewitness accounts.

On January 3, 2018, one of Young's accomplices, Devonte Gary, was shot by a customer during a robbery at the Circle K.

Young and Gary were driven to the hospital by Young's uncle, Arkiest Young, in a red vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle fleeing the scene.

Young was arrested and charged with the robberies, and was sentenced to 624 months in federal prison.
