A New Hampshire man who supplied Lawrence-area drug dealers with large quantities of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine was sentenced yesterday in federal court in Boston.

Cote Colby, 29, of Derry, N.H., was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley to six years in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release.

In April 2023, Colby was indicted along with three other defendants in this drug trafficking conspiracy.

An investigation began in September 2022 into a drug trafficking organization distributing fentanyl, fentanyl pills, cocaine base and methamphetamine, including counterfeit pills containing fentanyl in the Merrimack Valley areas of Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

The investigation identified Colby as a significant drug distributor for the organization, making thousands of dollars per transaction.

Over the course of the investigation, Colby distributed narcotics to several cooperating witnesses in numerous controlled purchases.

In total, it is estimated that Colby is responsible for distributing approximately 422 grams of pure methamphetamine and 26 grams of fentanyl.

Colby's sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Boston Field Division, and other local and federal agencies.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and other officials acknowledged the efforts of the investigators and prosecutors who worked on the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing gun violence and other violent crime in communities.
