Petersburg Gang Member Sentenced to Prison for Gun Possession

RICHMOND, Va. - A member of the High Society Hit Squad gang, Daekwon Castelle, also known as Dae Stackcz, has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison for possessing a firearm after having been convicted of a felony.

According to court documents, Castelle, 22, of Petersburg, was arrested in September 2019, just five months after he pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding involving a firearm, and was released from state custody.

At the time of his arrest, Castelle was in possession of a loaded .45 caliber firearm with a round in the chamber. Additionally, at the time of arrest, Castelle was in possession of a distribution quantity fentanyl, a Schedule II controlled substance and nearly $800 in cash.

Testimony at today’s sentencing hearing showed that between April 2019 and the date of Castelle’s arrest in September 2019, he was distributing cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, pills, and marijuana. Testimony also showed that Castelle was often armed when he was dealing drugs.

Gang members, like Castelle, often use firearms to intimidate and control their territories. The presence of firearms in these situations increases the risk of harm to innocent bystanders, including law enforcement officers.

The sentencing was announced by Assistant U.S. Attorney Angela Mastandrea-Miller. The investigation was conducted by the ATF’s Washington Field Division and the Petersburg Bureau of Police.
