Nebraska Man Sentenced to 180 Months for Methamphetamine Conspiracy

A Grand Island man, Dale Roberson, was sentenced to 180 months in prison for his role in a methamphetamine conspiracy. The sentencing took place in federal court on May 2020.

Roberson, 37, was found guilty of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, a charge that carries significant penalties in the federal court. The sentencing judge, Senior United States District Judge Richard G. Kopf, handed down the 180-month sentence, which is equivalent to 15 years.

Following his release from prison, Roberson will be required to serve a 10-year term of supervised release. The federal justice system does not offer parole, meaning Roberson will have to complete his sentence without the possibility of early release.

As part of the investigation, law enforcement officials discovered that Roberson was distributing large quantities of methamphetamine in the Grand Island area. The transactions took place at his residence, with many of them occurring between early 2018 and May 2020. Police surveillance captured short-term traffic at his residence during this time period.

Further investigation revealed that Roberson used social media to communicate with others about the exchange of methamphetamine, money, and drug use. He also discussed trips to other states to obtain drugs. These communications were a key part of the evidence that led to his conviction.

The case was investigated by the Grand Island Police Department and the Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Streets Task Force, a collaborative effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
