Arizona Man Charged with 10 Kilos of Fentanyl in St. Louis

A 10-kilo haul of fentanyl has landed an Arizona man in hot water, as authorities in St. Louis, Missouri, have charged Daniel Cervantes Felix, 18, of Maricopa, Arizona, with possession with the intent to distribute the deadly substance.

According to a criminal complaint, on January 6, 2020, St. Louis County police officers pulled over a GMC Sierra vehicle being driven by Felix after he violated various traffic laws. Felix granted consent to search his vehicle, and officers discovered multiple kilo-size bricks totaling 10 kilograms of fentanyl.

Felix has been charged with one count of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance, carrying a statutory mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted. He is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The seizure of the fentanyl amounts to millions of doses, enough to destroy or end the lives of hundreds of thousands of Missourians, said U.S. Attorney Jeff Jensen. 'This conduct simply will not be tolerated by law enforcement. We are grateful to the St. Louis County police and DEA agents involved in this on-going investigation. Their seizure of this poison has saved many, many lives.'

The charge is the result of a joint investigation between the St. Louis County Police Department's Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Felix's case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of fentanyl trafficking in Missouri. Law enforcement agencies continue to crack down on those involved in the distribution of this deadly substance, working tirelessly to keep communities safe.

The case against Felix is ongoing, and he is currently presumed innocent until proven guilty. The outcome of his trial will be closely watched, as the community awaits justice for the victims of fentanyl trafficking.
