Daniel Decker, Child Pornography, Pennsylvania 2024
Pike County Man Sentenced to Five Years in Prison for Child Pornography
HARRISBURG - In a shocking case, a 29-year-old Dingmans Ferry man was sentenced to five years in prison today by U.S. District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion in Scranton, for receiving and distributing child pornography.
According to United States Attorney Peter Smith, the defendant, Daniel Decker, was charged and pled guilty earlier this year after an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Decker, 29, will serve 15 years on supervised release following his prison sentence, and will be required to register as a sex offender, undergo sex offender treatment, and comply with all of the rules of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa prosecuted the case, which highlights the importance of holding individuals accountable for their crimes and protecting vulnerable children from exploitation.
Decker's sentence sends a strong message that child pornography is a serious offense that will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
The case is a reminder that the fight against child sexual exploitation and abuse is an ongoing effort that requires the cooperation and vigilance of law enforcement, community leaders, and the public.
