Daniel James Lusk, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Iowa 2017

A Burlington man will spend the next five years behind bars after being found guilty of a serious crime, according to court records.

Daniel James Lusk, 26, formerly of Burlington, Iowa, was sentenced to 60 months in prison on August 30, 2017, for felon in possession of a firearm.

Lusk was arrested on October 24, 2016, in Burlington after he was found in possession of two handguns following a burglary at a private residence.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Burlington Police Department, and Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation into the case.

This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

During his time in prison, Lusk will also serve three years of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victims’ Fund.

The people of Burlington can rest a little easier tonight knowing that a serious threat to their safety has been taken off the streets.
