Danielle Reed, Methamphetamine Distribution, Louisiana 2024

A New Orleans woman has been sentenced to prison time for her role in a local methamphetamine distribution ring.

Danielle Reed, 43, was sentenced on January 17, 2024, to 130 months imprisonment, three years supervised release, and a $200 mandatory special assessment fee, announced U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans.

Reed previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(C), and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(c)(1)(A).

According to court documents, a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) investigation revealed that Reed was a drug dealer who primarily sold crystal methamphetamine. DEA agents utilized a confidential source to conduct two controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Reed.

On April 19, 2022, DEA agents seized a quantity of methamphetamine and two firearms from Reed.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, with the prosecution being handled by Assistant United States Attorney J. Benjamin Myers of the Financial Crimes Unit.
