Danny C. Oliver Sr., Child Pornography, Alabama 2023
A 62-year-old man from St. Clair County has been hit with a federal indictment for his alleged involvement in a child pornography racket.
Danny C. Oliver Sr. is accused of receiving, distributing, and possessing child pornography between 2014 and 2015, according to a three-count indictment filed in U.S. District Court.
The indictment alleges that Oliver engaged in this illicit activity despite being previously convicted of sexual abuse in the first degree in the State of Alabama.
As a result, Oliver's maximum penalty for receiving and distributing child pornography is 40 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, while his maximum penalty for possessing child pornography is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The case was investigated by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) and the FBI, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacquelyn Hutzell prosecuting.
An indictment contains only charges, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the federal government to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Project Safe Childhood aims to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children online, as well as identify and rescue victims.
