Darius Junior, Gun and Cocaine Possession, Maryland 2023
Baltimore, MD - A Baltimore man has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for possessing a firearm after a felony conviction and possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute.
On February 12, 2016, Baltimore City police made a vehicle stop of a Toyota in the 3300 block of McCulloh Street, just south of Gwynn Falls Parkway. Upon approach, the police could readily detect the odor of marijuana emanating from the Toyota. Darius Junior, age 26, was in the front passenger seat of the car.
During the investigation that ensued, the police observed and seized a .32 caliber revolver tucked in Junior's waistband area. A search of Junior's person yielded distributable amounts of cocaine, cash and a .32 caliber bullet.
At the time of his arrest, Junior had sustained three felony convictions punishable by a term of imprisonment exceeding one year, including a separate handgun violation and two armed robbery convictions in Baltimore City.
Acting United States Attorney Stephen M. Schenning commended the FBI, Baltimore Police Department and Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office for their work in the investigation.
Mr. Schenning thanked Assistant United States Attorney Sandra Wilkinson, who prosecuted the case.
