Darnell Isabell, Fentanyl Distribution, Wisconsin 2023
Beloit Man Sentenced to 7 1/2 Years for Fentanyl Distribution, Wisconsin 2023
A Beloit man has been sentenced to 7 1/2 years in federal prison for distributing 40 grams or more of fentanyl. Darnell Isabell, 39, pleaded guilty to the charge on March 25, 2024. He was arrested on January 11, 2023, after law enforcement suspected that he planned to sell fentanyl on Oakwood Avenue, Beloit.
According to court records, officers surveilling Isabell saw him meet with a motorist, where he delivered two ounces of fentanyl. The substance was seized and tested positive for fentanyl. A search of Isabell's home resulted in the recovery of additional amounts of fentanyl, cocaine, and $2,120 in U.S. currency.
The charge against Isabell was the result of an investigation conducted by the Rock County Sheriff's Office, Beloit Police Department, Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Anderson prosecuted the case.
Isabell served 8 years in prison for a previous cocaine distribution conviction, before being released to supervision in 2022. Judge William M. Conley revoked that supervision and imposed an additional 18-month sentence to run consecutive to the sentence on the new conviction.
Isabell has spent most of his adult life selling drugs, according to Judge Conley. The judge observed that this was an aggravating factor in the case, as Isabell sold drugs while under federal supervised release.
Isabell's sentence will run from the date of his arrest on January 11, 2023. He will serve 7 1/2 years in federal prison, followed by an additional 18 months for violating his supervised release.
