Tahlequah Man Sentenced To 37 Months For Failure To Register As Sex Offender

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA - On Friday, a local man was handed down a 37-month prison sentence for his failure to register as a sex offender.

DARRELL DEWAYNE PERRY, 55, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, was found guilty of violating Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2250(a)(1), 2250(a)(2)(B) and 2250(a)(3) after an investigation by the United States Marshal Service.

The defendant received felony convictions from the State of Oklahoma, Muskogee County, on or about September 14, 1998, for the offenses of Rape First Degree, Rape by Instrumentation and Sodomy.

PERRY is required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act and failed to update his registration as required by the Act.

The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing and deemed the defendant a non-parolable sentence.

Assistant United States Attorney Edward Snow represented the United States in the case.

The defendant will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending transportation to the designated federal facility in which he will serve his 37-month sentence.
