Daryl Tyrone Gray, Gun and Drug Convictions, Alabama 2021

MONTGOMERY, AL - A Montgomery man was sentenced to 78 months in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to gun and drug convictions, according to a Grimy Times investigation.

Daryl Tyrone Gray, 38, was found guilty of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

On February 20, 2019, the Montgomery Police Department responded to a shots-fired call in Montgomery, Alabama. When officers arrived, they made contact with Gray and found him in possession of a .40 caliber handgun. Gray, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Later in 2019, law enforcement suspected Gray was engaged in the illegal sale of controlled substances. On April 11, 2019, agents discovered that Gray had made arrangements with another individual to purchase a quantity of cocaine in the parking lot of a Montgomery restaurant and was subsequently arrested.

Gray pleaded guilty to the charges on November 19, 2020. This case was investigated by the Montgomery Police Department, the Department of Homeland Security, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Assistant United States Attorney Russell T. Duraski prosecuted the case. According to court records, Gray was sentenced to 78 months in prison on October 27, 2021.
