Davaun Oswald, Heroin, Fentanyl, Marijuana Possession, Massachusetts 2019

A federal indictment has been brought against Davaun Oswald, a 22-year-old New Bedford man, for his alleged involvement in a large-scale heroin and marijuana trafficking operation.

Oswald has been in custody since January 31, 2019, when law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at his apartment and found approximately 15 grams of a mixture of heroin and fentanyl, as well as over 450 grams of marijuana.

The indictment charges Oswald with one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin, fentanyl, and marijuana, a crime that carries a sentence of up to 30 years in prison, up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of up to $2 million.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer.

Oswald has prior felony convictions for criminal possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

The United States Attorney, Andrew E. Lelling, and other law enforcement officials announced the indictment today.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas Soivilien of Lelling’s Organized Crime and Gang Unit is prosecuting the case.
