Machine Gun Found in Stolen Car After High-Speed Chase in St. Louis

A high-speed car chase through north St. Louis County ended with a stolen car crashing into a light pole, and a man on supervised release facing serious charges. Davell A. Horton, 29, of St. Louis County, has admitted to possessing a machine gun in the stolen vehicle.

Horton was driving a stolen Infiniti G37 with no license plates on July 15, 2024, when St. Louis County Police Department officers spotted the car. Despite attempts to pull him over, Horton sped away on a circuitous route, leading police on a high-speed chase.

After crashing the car into a light pole, Horton's passenger fled, dropping a handgun. Horton also ran, but left behind a .45-caliber Glock equipped with a high-capacity magazine and a ‘switch’ or auto sear that modified it into a fully automatic weapon.

Horton was on supervised release at the time, having been sentenced in January 2021 to 70 months in prison for carjacking. He now faces up to 15 years in prison at his sentencing, scheduled for August 10.

The St. Louis County Police Department investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul D’Agrosa is prosecuting the case as part of Operation Take Back America.
