David Guy, Child Pornography, Ohio 2023

Published March 9, 2016

A 61-year-old man from New Richmond, Ohio has been convicted of producing, receiving, and possessing child pornography, shocking local authorities and the community.

David Guy, a resident of New Richmond, Ohio, was found guilty of 11 counts of obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children, one count of attempted production of child pornography, three counts of receipt of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography.

The charges stem from a trial that began on February 29 before U.S. District Judge Susan J. Dlott, where Guy was accused of using Photoshop to create hundreds of visual depictions using 11 different minor victims. He allegedly placed the children's faces into images of very graphic adult and child pornography.

A search of computers seized from Guy's residence revealed a vast collection of child pornography, including depictions of the sexual bondage of children less than five years of age, bestiality, lascivious exhibition, and many other graphic and violent images.

During the trial, Guy claimed that the over 25,000 images of child pornography he received and possessed were inspiration for his art. He claimed that the hundreds of images of graphic child pornography he Photoshopped were merely art. However, Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy D. Oakley disputed this claim, stating that the images were not art, but rather a manifestation of a deep-seated problem.

The jury delivered a verdict of guilty on all 16 counts after less than an hour of deliberation. The charges carry a range of prison sentences, including not less than five years and up to 20 years for obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children, 15 to 30 years for production of child pornography, five to 20 years for receipt of child pornography, and up to 20 years for possession of child pornography.

Carter M. Stewart, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, commended the cooperative investigation by agents and officers of the Clermont County Sheriff's Office, the Regional Electronic Computer Investigations Task Force, and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christy L. Muncy and Timothy D. Oakley, who prosecuted the case.
