St. Paul Man Charged with Armed Bank Robbery in Connection with $3,952 Heist

A 47-year-old St. Paul man has been indicted for stealing $3,952 from the US Bank branch located at 711 Cleveland Avenue South in St. Paul on December 13, 2012.

According to the indictment, David Judin Greer allegedly walked into the bank at approximately 2:00 p.m. and brandished a .38-caliber revolver, demanding twenties, fifties, and one-hundred-dollar bills from the teller. The teller complied, stuffing the money into a white plastic bag provided by Greer.

Following the robbery, the Federal Bureau of Investigation released digital images of the robber, who was later identified as Greer through a telephone call from an anonymous individual. Authorities conducted surveillance on Greer's residence and on December 29, 2012, they received a call from the St. Paul Police Department, indicating they had just conducted a welfare check on Greer at the request of a family member.

During the welfare check, Greer gave law enforcement consent to search his residence, where officers located the revolver used in the bank robbery, hidden above the duct work in the basement.

If convicted, Greer faces a potential maximum penalty of 25 years in prison for armed robbery and seven years for brandishing a firearm. All sentences will be determined by a federal district court judge.

The case is the result of an investigation by the FBI and the St. Paul Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Clifford B. Wardlaw.

An indictment is a determination by a grand jury that there is probable cause to believe that offenses have been committed by a defendant. A defendant, of course, is presumed innocent until he or she pleads guilty or is proven guilty at trial.
