David McCloskey, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Georgia 2023

Published July 26, 2019

Savannah, GA – David McCloskey, 47, of Augusta, Georgia, has been sentenced to 165 months in prison for Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or More of Methamphetamine, a/k/a 'Larchmont.'

McCloskey, a purported leader of the conspiracy, was also sentenced to 120 months in prison for being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm. He will serve an additional three to five years of supervised release upon completion of his sentence.

The crime occurred on April 16, 2018, when Effingham County deputies arrested McCloskey, who had in his possession a kilogram of crystal methamphetamine, a firearm with two fully loaded magazines, $2,225 in cash, and drug trafficking scales.

Mccloskey had a combined total of at least 19 state convictions, including at least three felony convictions, and had previously violated state probation at least four times.

The significant federal prison sentence for McCloskey should make it clear that authorities will not tolerate street gangs who peddle poison in neighborhoods and violate the safety of citizens, said U.S. Attorney Bobby L. Christine.

Mccloskey's sentence will run consecutive to any state sentences for violating probation or parole. There is no parole in the federal system.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.
