PHILADELPHIA - A string of brazen bank robberies shook the suburbs of Philadelphia in 2015. David Thomas, a/k/a 'David Thompson', 23, of Philadelphia, PA, was sentenced to 192 months in prison for his role in orchestrating and executing four bank robberies.
On May 14, 2015, Thomas robbed Wells Fargo, located at 52 North Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA. Just a month later, on June 2, 2015, Thomas and others robbed the same Wells Fargo branch. The following month, on June 30, 2015, Thomas and others robbed TD Bank, located at 8600 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia. Finally, on July 15, 2015, Thomas, armed with a loaded semi-automatic pistol and assisted by others, robbed TD Bank, located at 5501 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia.
The total amount stolen during the robberies was $48,408, which the court ordered Thomas to pay in restitution. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Philadelphia and Lower Merion Police Departments. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Eric A. Boden.
