A California man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for his role in the sexual exploitation of a child.
David Vogelpohl, 22, of Vista, California, was sentenced on December 10, 2019, after a guilty plea to one count of sexual exploitation of a child.
The crime occurred in 2018 when Vogelpohl persuaded, induced, or enticed a female under 18 years old to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depictions.
Vogelpohl was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Judge C.J. Williams. He was sentenced to 360 months' imprisonment, a special assessment of $100, and must also serve a 5-year term of supervised release. He must comply with all sex offender registration and public notification requirements.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel and was investigated by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Mason City Police Department, the North Platte, Nebraska, Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations.
