Defendant Charged with Making False Statement on Firearm Application
FORT WAYNE, INDIANA - David William Smith, 28, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, has been charged with making a false statement on an FFL application on or about February 15, 2013.
According to a Grand Jury indictment, Smith allegedly submitted a false statement to obtain a firearm license. The charge was filed as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Fort Wayne Police Department.
The case has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Tina L. Nommay, who will prosecute the matter.
The United States Attorney's Office emphasized that the indictment is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
