Dean Allen Wallowing Bull, Attempted Sexual Abuse, Montana 2025

Published March 18, 2026

A Lame Deer man, identified as Dean Allen Wallowing Bull, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for attempting to sexually abuse a minor. The sentencing occurred on 2025 in Billings, Montana.

The crime is believed to have taken place in 2009 when Wallowing Bull, then 46 years old, and the minor were drinking together at Wallowing Bull's residence. The minor eventually fell asleep on a couch in the basement, only to be awoken by Wallowing Bull laying behind him and reaching towards his crotch.

The minor attempted to leave but was blocked by Wallowing Bull at the doorway. He then pinned the minor to the couch to prevent him from escaping. The minor fought back and Wallowing Bull eventually allowed him to exit the basement.

Evidence gathered throughout the investigation established that Wallowing Bull intended to remove the minor's clothing in order to have anal or oral sex with him.

Wallowing Bull pleaded guilty in October 2025 to one count of attempted sexual abuse. He will also serve a lifetime of supervised release following his prison sentence.

The U.S. Attorney's Office prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the FBI, BIA, and Northern Cheyenne Investigative Services.

In a statement, the Acting U.S. Attorney Tim Racicot said that justice has been served in this case. The community can rest assured that those who commit such heinous crimes will be held accountable.
