Dearrius Dontrell Pace, Carjacking and Kidnapping, Alabama 2024

Birmingham Man Behind Bars for Horrific Crime Spree

Dearrius Dontrell Pace, a 31-year-old resident of Birmingham, Alabama, has been handed a 20-year prison sentence for carjacking and kidnapping, a heinous crime that left the victim shaken.

According to court documents, Pace’s crimes unfolded on July 16, 2024, at a gas station on Lloyd Nolan Parkway. The victim, who was exiting the station, was confronted by Pace at gunpoint. Pace ordered the victim to move into the passenger seat and took the driver’s seat, putting the victim’s life in grave danger.

The victim was forced to hand over $16 in cash, and when he informed Pace that he did not have a wallet, Pace struck the victim in the face with a hard object. The victim was eventually ordered out of the vehicle.

The FBI, in collaboration with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the case, which led to Pace’s arrest on July 24, 2024.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel S. McBrayer prosecuted the case, bringing Pace to justice for his despicable crimes. U.S. District Court Judge Madeline H. Haikala handed down the 20-year sentence, which is a fitting punishment for Pace’s heinous actions.

The people of Birmingham can now rest easier knowing that Pace is behind bars, unable to harm anyone else. The Grimy Times commends the brave men and women of law enforcement who worked tirelessly to bring Pace to justice.
