Published May 20, 2026

A federal grand jury in the Western District of Wisconsin has returned an indictment against Dennis McCullough, 64, of Wood County, Wisconsin, for possessing child pornography.

The indictment alleges that on October 12, 2025, McCullough possessed a cell phone that contained images of child pornography. If convicted, McCullough faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

The charge against him is the result of an investigation conducted by the Wood County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Pfluger is handling the case.

This investigation was part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.justice.gov/psc.

Mandatory minimum and maximum penalties for child pornography charges vary by jurisdiction, but in Wisconsin, the maximum penalty for a first offense is 20 years in prison.

McCullough's current status is not available as this article is based on a press release and not a court document. It is essential to note that a charge is merely an accusation, and a person named as defendant in an indictment is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
