Spokane Valley Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Methamphetamine Possession

Coeur d'Alene, ID - In a federal court hearing, Denvil Alan Baldwin, a 46-year-old resident of Spokane Valley, Washington, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.

The charges against Baldwin stem from a January 2020 investigation, during which law enforcement found 70 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle. A subsequent search of a trailer on the Coeur d'Alene Indian reservation uncovered an additional 740 grams of the illicit substance.

Baldwin pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute in March 2021. The court records detail Baldwin's admission that he intended to distribute the methamphetamine to others.

After serving his 10-year prison sentence, Baldwin will be subject to supervised release for five years, as mandated by the United States Probation Office.

Acting U.S. Attorney Rafael M. Gonzalez, Jr. praised the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies, including the Benewah County Sheriff's Office, the Narcotics Division of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Coeur d'Alene Tribal Police Department, which led to charges against Baldwin.

Gonzalez emphasized that drug traffickers operating on a reservation will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The investigation and subsequent prosecution of Denvil Alan Baldwin serve as a warning to those involved in drug trafficking on Indian reservations: law enforcement agencies will work together to bring perpetrators to justice.
