Deontrae Walden, ATM Machine Heists, Florida 2023
ORLANDO, FL - In a brazen series of bank ATM machine thefts, four individuals have landed in federal prison. Deontrae Walden, Aqunis Green, Carlos Tawan Reed, Jr., and Wendell Harp, all from Orlando, were sentenced for their roles in stealing a total of $593,650 from five banks in Central Florida.
The ATM heists, which targeted Chase Bank locations, resulted in over $100,000 in damages to the five machines. According to court records, the men used a stolen pickup truck and attach chains to rip the casing from the ATM machines and steal the cash boxes inside.
Deontrae Walden, 23, of Orlando, was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison for his role in the heists. Walden pleaded guilty to bank burglary and was sentenced on September 18, 2023.
Aqunis Green, 24, of Houston, TX, was sentenced to 18 months in prison, consecutive to 46 months imposed on a related case in Texas. Green pleaded guilty to bank burglary and was sentenced on September 18, 2023.
CARLOS TAWAN REED, JR., 23, of Orlando, was sentenced to 4 years and 3 months in prison for his role in the heists. Reed pleaded guilty to bank burglary and was sentenced on March 6, 2023.
Wendell Harp, 24, of Orlando, was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison for his role in the heists. Harp pleaded guilty to bank burglary and was sentenced on April 11, 2023.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the Orlando Police Department, the Casselberry Police Department, and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael P. Felicetta.
