Derrick Deshawn Bailey, Methamphetamine Distribution, West Virginia 2025

A Huntington man has been sentenced to prison for his role in a federal drug crime. Derrick Deshawn Bailey, 44, of Huntington, was sentenced to five years in prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release, for distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on April 29, 2025, Bailey sold 110 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Huntington.

The case was investigated by the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force and the Huntington Police Department. United States Attorney Moore Capito commended the investigative work of the task force and the police department.

United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed the sentence. Assistant United States Attorney Courtney L. Finney prosecuted the case.

Bailey's conviction stems from the sale of 110 grams of methamphetamine, more than twice the threshold for the charge of distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. The exact date of the sale, April 29, 2025, marks the point at which Bailey's actions crossed the line from personal use to the distribution of a controlled substance.
