Derwin Idell Moore, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Minnesota 2019
Derwin Idell Moore, 33, and Kevin Kareem White, 36, Charged with Illegal Possession of Firearms
In a disturbing case of gun violence, two St. Paul men have been charged with illegal possession of firearms. Derwin Idell Moore, 33, and Kevin Kareem White, 36, were found in possession of handguns on August 11, 2019.
According to the indictment, Moore possessed a Canik model TP9DA 9mm semi-automatic pistol, while White possessed a Smith & Wesson model M&P Shield 9mm semi-automatic pistol. Both men have prior felony convictions, making them prohibited under federal law from possessing firearms at any time.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the St. Paul Police Department as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) and Project Guardian. Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Calhoun-Lopez is prosecuting the case.
The indictment alleges that Moore and White were in possession of the firearms on August 11, 2019. Moore and White are charged with one count each of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The charges contained in the indictment are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
With this case, the community is calling for stricter gun laws and increased enforcement of existing laws to prevent such incidents in the future.
