Madison Man Sentenced to Prison for Gun Possession

A 26-year-old man from Madison, IL, has been sentenced to prison for possessing a firearm despite being a prohibited person. Dexter L. McClendon was sentenced to 6 months in prison, followed by 12 months of home confinement, for one count of Possession of a Weapon by a Prohibited Person.

The case against McClendon began when he was found in possession of a 7.62 caliber rifle on July 28, 2014. At the time, he had previously been convicted of a misdemeanor Domestic Battery offense, which prohibits him from possessing any firearms or ammunition.
