Feds Nab Fort Wayne Man in Armed Bank Heist

A brazen armed bank robbery in Fort Wayne has landed a 22-year-old man in the crosshairs of federal authorities.

Deyante Stephens, 22, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was slapped with a single count indictment for armed bank robbery on February 14, 2013, at a local financial institution.

According to the indictment, Stephens allegedly used a firearm during the commission of the crime. The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Northeast Indiana Federal Bank Robbery Task Force, and the Fort Wayne Police Department, uncovered sufficient evidence to bring the charges.

Assistant United States Attorney Anthony W. Geller has been assigned to prosecute the case in court. The indictment is merely an allegation, and Stephens is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

If convicted, Stephens faces a sentence to be determined by the judge after considering federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
